Howland Pecan Co. is a locally owned family business owned and operated by Harvey and Nancy McCoin in Paris, TX. We live in the small community of Howland in the southwest part of Lamar County, so that is how we came up with the name Howland Pecan. Our retail store has lots of goodies, whether it is for a gift basket for work or family, stocking stuffer, something to take the grand kids when you go to visit, just to snack on going down the road, or to cook with.
Since Harvey had been in the harvesting business, we always had customers who wanted several hundred pounds of their pecans from their farm back and wanted them cracked. There was really not a good place to get them cracked locally, so I bought a cracker and started cracking pecans when our cleaning crew was working at night at the farm.
So, we bought a cracker, set of scales, found a building to rent, put a sign out and we were in business on November 1 of 2005. There is a lot more to it than that, but this is basically how we got started. We are very excited this year as we have built a brand new warehouse.
We have moved our cleaning facilities from the farm to the new warehouse at 2150 South Church and can’t wait to get started. We will be cleaning pecans for custom harvesters and this will allow us to have more storage for pecans than we did have.
Our store is known for the top quality pecans that we sell and for the friendly customer service. We are open November 1 of every year through February (depending on the crop year). We ship in the United States.
